Plastic / Reconstructive Surgery

The decision to have plastic surgery is extremely personal and you'll have to decide if the benefits will achieve your goals and if the risks and potential complications are acceptable.

Plastic surgery encompasses both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.

Reconstructive surgery may include breast reconstruction, breast reduction, hand surgery, tissue expansion, cleft lip and palate repair or scar revisions. Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It is generally performed to improve functions, but may also be done to approximate a normal appearance. Reconstructive surgery is generally covered by most health insurance policies, although coverage for specific procedures and levels of coverage may vary greatly.

Cosmetic plastic surgery includes everything from body lifts to breast augmentation to liposuction. These procedures can be non-surgical or surgical and reshape normal structures of the body to improve appearance.
